Entryway Project

Last spring (of 2010) we ripped up a whole bunch of carpet. We got much of it replaced, Trafton's room, hallways, stairs, etc., but decided not to do one of our downstairs rooms. We have been living with just a cleaned up sub-floor for over a year while we debated about what kind of flooring we wanted and got the money together to make it happen. Two weeks ago, we were finally ready to tile the entryway. Daniel painted the threshold and front door green to match our stairwell accent wall first. Then Al came out to help with the tiling job. This job went much quicker and smoother than the bathroom tiling job from the spring, I guess because they had some tiling experience to work with and there was no toilet replacement :) I am super excited about the end result!

The terrible blue front door

Looking better already

Finished!

Trafton is inspecting the cement board before it is screwed down.

Maybe I can help - this drill looks pretty fun . . .

Putting the backerboard in place

Starting to spread adhesive

Laying the tiles

Al helping out

Making the stair line nice and neat

Grouting - the messy part!

But this part is even worse - wiping the grout

(I even helped out with this part, since Trafton was taking a nap!)

Lots and lots of grout wiping . . .

Finished!

Ahh, what kind of flooring to put on the rest of the room . . . ?
